Adult Basic Education (ABE)

Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a program that will help you build your basic academic skills in Reading Comprehension, Writing and Mathematics to prepare for enrollment in HiSET Preparation classes or the High School Diploma (HSD) program.  After 50 hours of instruction in the ABE program we can retest you to see if you qualify for the HSD or HiSET Prep programs. ABE Classes meet two to four days a week with the teacher and two days are independent study work done at home online and sent to teacher by e-mail.

ABE Class Times:

ABE Level 1:   9:30 - 11:30                                                                                 In -person Monday and Wednesday- Independent Study Tues & Thurs

ABE Level 1:  9:30 - 11:30

In-person  Tuesday and Thursday- Independent Study Mon & Wed

ABE Level 2:  12:30 - 2:30 pm                                                                          In - person Monday and Wednesday. Independent Study Tues & Thurs.

ABE Level 2:   On Zoom, Tues and Thurs 12:30 - 2:30pm.                          Independent Study Mon & Wed. 

ABE Level 2 evenings:   4:00 - 5:30pm, In - person Mon & Wed and       Independent Study Tues & Thurs.

   Steps to enroll in Adult Basic Education

Step 1: Attend  orientation and assessment. See the Orientation Schedule by clicking the blue orientation tab on the left side of this page. 

Step 2: Create an LBSA account  and get your student ID number. 

Step 3: Complete assessment test to determine program placement.      Step 4:  Once placement level is determined, you will be enrolled in the appropriate class or placed on a waiting list.

Step 5:   If you are enrolled, get your start date to begin class.  

Registration takes at least 2  hours to complete. Registration, testing and orientation must be completed before you can start attending classes.
