FREE/GRATIS English as a Second Language

English as a Second Language is for students who want to learn English and prepare for U.S. Citizenship. It provides four levels of teacher-directed instruction: Beginning Low, Beginning High, Intermediate Low, and Intermediate High.  After successful completion of Intermediate High, students are encouraged to enroll in the HiSET Preparation program, job training programs offered at Long Beach School for Adults, or noncredit ESL classes at Long Beach City College (LBCC).  


Spring Semester Classes: February 5, 2018 - May 31, 2018

4-day-a-week classes:  Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday -Thursday

      9:00 a.m. - 12 p.m.

     12:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

      6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.   


ESL Registration for Spring Semester:  Room 17B

      Tuesday, January 30:  9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m.

      Wednesday, January 31:  9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

      Or the 1st day of class, as space permits


After February 5, 2018, ongoing ESL registration will be held as space permits. 


Spring Semester ESL office hours:

      Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

      Monday and Tuesday evenings, 5:15 - 6:30 p.m.

B1 office hours: Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., and Friday, 9 am - 4:00 pm.
