FREE English as a Second Language

English as a Second Language is for students who want to learn English and prepare for U. S. Citizenship. It provides four levels of teacher-directed instruction: Beginning Low, Beginning High, Intermediate Low, and Intermediate High.  After successful completion of Intermediate High, students are encouraged to enroll in the HiSET Preparation program, job training programs offered at Long Beach School for Adults, or non credit ESL classes at Long Beach City College, LBCC.       


Fall Semester Classes: September 11, 2017 - January 25, 2018

4-day-a-week classes:  Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday -Thursday

      9:00 a.m. - 12 p.m.

     12:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

      6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.


Registration for Fall Semester:  Room 17B


After September 11, 2017, ongoing ESL registration will be held as space permits.  If classes are full students will be put on waiting list and contacted when a space opens up.

Drop by registration is available Mon, Tues and Wed mornings from 9-12:30 pm and Evening Registration is available Monday and Tuesday  5:15 - 6:30 pm and by appointment.   If the ESL office is closed you can come by B-1 for ESL information. 

B1, Office hours are Monday - Thursday 9 am - 6:30 pm  and Friday 9 am - 4:00 pm.


Spring Semester Classes:  February 5, 2018 - May 31, 2018

Registration for Spring semester:

       January 30, 2018 - January 31, 2018      9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

       Evening hours only on Jan. 31:  5:00 - 7:0 p.m.
